Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge - Dawsonville, Georgia
We have visited this park a couple of times over the years but only as day use
patrons. We have never camped in this park though we have friends that
love to camp there. In July of 2007, we drove thru the campground to see
what it was like. There are 24 sites which appear to be large and are located on top
of the mountain. If you pull a TT, please ensure that you have very good
brakes on your TV and TT and all transmission service is complete...the hill up
to the park is STEEP! All of the site for TT appear to quite level and
new. Most of the sites have some sort of deck. The one main thing I
noticed that was missing was tree cover...it appears that you will bear the
brunt of any cold wind in the North Georgia Mountains if you camp there in the
winter. The lodge is a wonderful place to stay and the restaurant has
great food. The falls is easily accessed from the parking lot and is a site to
behold! You have to experience the joy of encountering ALL 625 steps up
and down the falls. Some of the pathway adjacent to the falls is made of
some sort of rubber so it is comfortable to walk on.
