Magnolia Springs State Park - Millen, Georgia
Though my family per se was not on this trip, a review is still possible. Our high school football team used the group camp area for their annual summer camp (this is where my son stayed) and I went along as one of the cooks for the team, but I stayed in the campground area for "some" sleep. The CG loop is very nice and there are a lot of trees covering the whole area. There are 26 campsites with a screened in cooking area in the middle of the CG loop. The sites are level and access is easy for big rigs. The comfort station was adequate. The park day use area is nice with a swimming pool and putt-putt. There is a large lake that you can bring your boat and do some skiing and fishing...my personal opinion is I will NOT ski anywhere gators are! One neat piece of trivia about this park is that is was the site of a Civil War Prison...that never opened because of Sherman and his march to the sea. It would have relieved a lot of suffering from Andersonville if it had opened. The park is easy to get to from I-16 and was pleasant to experience...even if the July heat was prevalent.
